Enlightened Equitation was founded by Heather Moffett. At the heart of its philosophy is the humane training of the horse and the simple, logical teaching of the rider. The company is a result of Heather's ambition to improve the standards of teaching by providing a better system which instills the foundations of the correct classical seat and refined aids which "should be clear to the horse, but not obvious to the onlooker." HEATHER MOFFETT - FOUNDER OF ENLIGHTENED EQUITATION

 

Heather Moffett is a well known classical dressage trainer and teacher of riding. She trained with Capt Desi Lorent, a student of Maestro Oliveira, and then with Dr. Margaret Cox, who trained under Bereiters from the Spanish Riding School. She writes for most of the leading British equestrian journals and lectures in the UK and abroad.

 

As a teenager, Heather analysed and devised methods to teach riders the way in which to adhere to the horse's movement. This eventually led her to pioneer the use of a horse simulator, the Equisimulator, in the teaching of riding. In 1999 her knowledge and experience was made available to riders everywhere in her first best selling book, Enlightened Equitation - Riding In True Harmony With Your Horse.

 

Heather's passion for teaching also led her to design her own range of saddles that enabled the rider to sit effortlessly in the most effective position and gave the horse freedom of movement without any restriction or hindrance to its shoulders or back. The latest design is the Fhoenix, launched in the UK in 2005 and now being sold in a number of other countries.
